Questions from proofreaders

Everything you need to know before you join.

Yes. Quoteland is a new platform, and right now joining, receiving requests and contacting clients costs nothing. We don't ask for card details, so nothing can be charged without you knowing.

We're launching and need to build up both clients and editors. While we do that, there is no fee. If we ever introduce paid features, we'll tell you clearly in advance and you can decide whether to use them. Nothing will be switched on automatically.

Most UK universities have rules on what a proofreader may change in assessed work. Ask students for their university's policy and keep your changes within it. Quoteland is not for writing or rewriting assessed work on a student's behalf.

Yes. Almost all proofreading and editing is done remotely, so you can work with clients anywhere in the UK.

It isn't required, but showing proofreading training and membership of a professional body such as the CIEP helps clients choose you.

Directly, by phone or WhatsApp. Quoteland doesn't sit between you and the client or take a commission.

Many freelance marketplaces take a commission and push prices down through bidding. Quoteland takes nothing while we launch, and clients pay you directly.
