Questions from babysitters

Everything you need to know before you join.

Yes. Quoteland is a new platform, and right now joining, receiving requests and contacting families costs nothing. We don’t ask for card details, so nothing can be charged without you knowing.

We’re launching and need to build up both families and babysitters in each area. While we do that, there is no fee. If we ever introduce paid features, we’ll tell you clearly in advance and you can decide whether to use them. Nothing will be switched on automatically.

You must be 18 or over. Experience with children, a DBS check and paediatric first aid aren’t required to join, but families are much more likely to choose sitters who have them.

Mostly evening and weekend babysitting, date nights, school pick-ups, part-time after-school care and occasional overnight stays.

Across the UK, babysitters typically charge around £10–£13 an hour, and more in London or for babies, several children or late nights. You set your own rate.

It isn’t a legal requirement for babysitting, but many families ask for one. You can apply for a basic DBS check yourself online and show it on your profile.

Evening babysitting in a family’s home (between 6pm and 2am) can’t be registered with Ofsted. If you provide daytime care in a family’s home, you may be able to join the voluntary Ofsted Childcare Register as a home childcarer. This lets eligible parents pay you with Tax-Free Childcare.

Directly, by phone or WhatsApp. We always recommend meeting the family before your first job. Quoteland doesn’t take a cut of what you earn.
